Holiday thoughts...
Well, I'm out of here early. So, to put Christmas in it's proper religious perspective...
Christmas and Christianity have had a special relationship, ever since Jesus went to the temple and matched the money changers with his own 40% OFF SPECIAL CHRISTMAS SALE! The baby Jesus wants you to ring up that credit card debt on Christmas stuff- it's not only good for the economy, it's good for the U.S., and good for Christ- all of which I have been assured, are pretty much the same thing.
Remember:
THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU! CONSUME! CONSUME!

Despite my latest rant, I do agree with you that this largely isn't a religious holiday to most people anymore. What burns me is the group of people who use its widespread observance as some sort of proof that they're right, or that the US is Xtian. And even if it were purely secular, the crass commercialism would still tick me off. Let's call a hibernation/game con for the latter half of Dec, shall we?
