Point-to-point wormholes also means untappable communications. Note that disassembly/reassembly either has to be fairly slow or dumps a lot of heat, so teleportation might be something that involves a prepared ritual space and an apparent force field (created by utility fog). On the other hand, if it involves making person-sized wormholes, bringing other people through will only be a small additional cost; as long as a mage could sustain the resources to keep one open, they could let an army go through single file.
