The End: not quite a fanfic.

In a recent thread on rpg.net, people were invited to speculate on the ending of some of their favorite genre characters.  there were a lot of heroic and not-so heroic deaths, and amazingly few happy endings.  So naturally, i decided to do something a bit different.  of course the character should be obvious to people who've read the right source material...



IN THE END...


Silence, except for the soft whisper of a broom on the floor.

A woman's voice quietly humming an old sentimental melody.

The scrape of chair legs on table tops.

"Well, that's it then."

A quiet pause.

"Goodnight."

*click*

Darkness.

Thank you! It's been ages since I've done anything even remotely fanfick-ish, but this one just came to me.

Of course the phrase "I'll put the chairs on tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave." is one of the few lines that really stuck with me from Sandman.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it.
