[Character] Kori, the multiple body personality syndrome
Let me tell you about my character. It's Friday, there's nothing else to do, and more importantly, this is a character that explored some interesting themes: the difference between self and self image, how far technology can ethically be stretched, and well, stuff.
Kori Summer was a character who was female (usually), had shoulder-length blond hair, was athletic, cheerful and sophisticated, and completely artificial in origin.
The advanced civilization that created her was experimenting with both preserving information, and also stretching out the expertise of their chronically understaffed diplomatic/intervention agency. She was designed to be a single personality, with seven bodies. That is, all the bodies were separate, but they had a duplicate personality and memory in each, one that was kept unified by periodic updates. As the stories I did with her progressed, there were a couple of unanticipated effects:
Her "bodies" would develop, if not fully independent personalities, some differences based on the time between updates. More like extended moods.
She tended to be very callus toward the survival of any one body; given that the "memory core" was very well protected, it would tend to survive a given death, and if it didn't? That's still just some missing time. She would experiment with very risky behaviors that could and often were) terminal. Depending on her mood, this could be considered a way of "acting out".
She was likewise somewhat callus toward her own memories and personality, since she could edit them out. She had to fight against the tendency to limit her growth potential by editing out anything painful, frustrating, or embarrassing. This was mitigated against (or actually possibly made worse) by the fact that she was brought up to be highly self aware, adjusted, and clinical toward her own emotions. This is leaving out the way she could willingly adjust her neurochemistry.
She also tended to age mentally faster than regular people, simply because she was having more experiences to be integrated. It wasn't quite seven ties faster, since she would edit her memories down, and it wasn't quite the same as regular aging experience in the first place. But she still seemed older, in an oddly shallow way.
She actually turned out rather more alien, and considerably more creepy than I was expecting.
