Ciome to think of it, the schools that I used to attend could have been described in Gulag terms; you had the teachers as Commisars, the Principal as the Apparatchek...even the food was probably similar.

I regularly referred to my high school economics teacher as the commandant.

This Yahoo! Answers page is a real gem though. No wonder Jon Stewart referred to war as "God's way of teaching Americans geography".
