Hmm ...a subgenre angst question.

So, is anyone else bothered by the fact that "MilSF" is just one letter away from "MILF"?

Actually, it wouldn't be so bad if we could use this fact to explain late Robert Heinlein.

Dude, you got the phrase MILF on my friend page. Now I have to send it out to be cleaned. I grok where you're going with the Heinlein reference all too well, but really. Ew.

But do you have to get your freind's page cleaned out BECAUSE of the Heinlein reference?

Aww, I enjoy some Heinlein. "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" and "A Door Into Summer" are my personal favorites.
Of course, your comment brings to mind the aspects of Heinlein that would cause me to shriek in dismay, "Wait, what?! No! No! Stop that!!"

Well the biggest problem I see is if you have a typo when you are searching for one and get the other instead. However I'm not sure which one is the one to claim you had been searching for in general society.

LOL. Indeed, which does he really want to admit to searching for? I suppose that would depend on his audience at the time.

Arguably, I think in most parts of the internet "sexy older women" is more acceptable than "right-wing military science fiction".

I think, at least.

[identity profile] silverstreak.livejournal.com 2008-08-21 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see the problem here...

[identity profile] roseembolism.livejournal.com 2008-08-21 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I suppose it's only a matter of time before we have MILF MilSF. And no, I'm not going to check and see if that time has already occured.

Obviously you've never read any R.A.H. or you'd know that in "Glory Road" you get both. ;)

[identity profile] roseembolism.livejournal.com 2008-08-22 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Glory Road didn't have the "Liberals and bureaucrats are destroying society" angle that MilSF has...though it came fairly close. Maybe we could call it "MILitary Fantasy". Which appreviates to...oh. Oh no. Oh no no no!

[identity profile] anam-moon.livejournal.com 2008-08-22 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. Very true.
