March of the Robot
Recently released, some very interesting footage of the "Big Dog" robot undergoing its latest free and tethered mobility tests.
What's interesting to me is the times when it appears the most lifelike: when it's losing it's balance, skidding, or nearly falling. It's both fascinating and a little creepy, like it's approaching the Uncanny Valley from an entirely different area.
It's still a test bed of course; it will be interesting to see how and when this is applied in an actual vehicle; I'mthinking it's far more likely it will be used as a small vehicle- the equivalent of an off-road cycle- than it will as a military device.
And as an added special bonus...Transformer!

As for the Transformer, I do find it impressive that not only have they made one work, but the head transforms to be where the cab of the car should be. It seems almost practical! :D

As for the transformer, cool it is, but I can't help but remember the webcomic where the transformer forgot he had passengers in his cab...

Now all they need to do is put a colorful covering over the thing.
