So I was at dictionary.com, looking up "arch"- in the Jane Austen, not the structural sense- and it spat out this definition:

Mischievous; roguish: an arch glance

Mischevious.

I hate it when I connect to web sites in a parallel universe.

Before you get all virtuous, this might be one of those annoying words that's spelled differently in American and British, like "alumINUm"/"alumINIum". I didn't believe my Irish friends until they pointed to the spelling on the package... and they didn't believe me until I showed them mine. So to speak.

Actually, I did try multiple spellings of the term- in fact, to check on alternative spellings was why I went there in the first place. Nope- I''m getting internet feed from a parallel universe again.

But I do agree that spellings between English and American can be idiosyncratic- aside from color/colour and grey/gray, the English have very different spellings for "trunk" and "toilet". 'S weird. ;')
