The week continues its Ups and Downs

On the plus side, we get to move back home today, which will be nice. Hopefully the house won't be too mildewy, but in any case my weekened is going to be spent in cleaning up.  I can't thank [profile] sandpanther enough for putting us up on such short notice, as well as putting up with us.

On the negative, I have a follow up vist to a specialist fora medical problem I've been dealing with for a while, and has been keepingme awake recently.  It's probaby a minor problem, but the fact that they were willing to see me the next day is really twigging the hypochondriac in me.

And right now I'm getting more registrations in than I can process.  Bleh.

And more Coraline:

Not that I'm a total Gaimen booster, but here's a little advert about Coraline, which includes (among the producers saying nice things about each other), a few clips of the film.

Hmmmm. It looks interesting, though Coraline seems a lot less gothy than I remember imagining her from the book. Ah well, I'll be seeing it in the theater anyway.

Making Mars the Red Planet!

Courtesy of some guy off the internet, we have something rare and deliriously odd here. It's a 1924 animated propaganda film where a brave cosmonaut liberates Mars.  It's really a surreal mish mash of Flash Gordon style SF, crude animation at the level of Monty Python (and equally as raunchy), and heavy-handed Stalinesque propaganda.

It really has to be seen to be believed.

Ahh, the benefits of careful reading...

For my special exam, I am only to have clear liquids tonight and tomorrow.  The chicken broth with garlic was icky, the Gatorade and apple juice boring.

But hey, look at this!  Ginger ale is a clear liquid, and so is whiskey!  And alcohol isn't mentioned as prohibited.  I'll read the scrip again- nope, no mention of alcohol.  So Old Fashioneds here we come!

For the first time in three days, I know I'm going to sleep through any physical discomfort.
