I could actually see this as a secondary "input" device, like the touch pad on a laptop.

It could also be useful if the designer assumes people will only use the gadget for the internet. In which case the only terms it needs are "LOL", "WTF", "anna nichole smith sex tape", and "Aplle is so much better in ever way tehn Micro$oft, so shut up!".
