Well on the bright side...
...my allergies won't be bothering me tonight.
My boss tried making popcorn in the microwave for the first time. She popped it in for 4 minutes, when the guidelines say 2. When the smell got to the "cause me to choke" stage, I looked into the hallway with the kitchen in it- it was grey with smoke.
I did what I could- shut the fire door between the kitchen/entryway and our office, opened both sliding windows, and put up a portable fan. At least it kept the grey pall in our area to a minimum.
I'm actually kind of worried that the fire suppression system didn't go off for this one.
