Fragments

I tend to think of my writng visually, in terms of creating scenes like a movie. As a result, oftentimes I come up with scenes that I simply can't form into a larger work- they can't even properly be called vignettes. So, I figure I might as well post these fragments here, for your amusement, on an occasional basis.

"It may have been the alcohol talking, but it seemed like an easy, if high-stakes challenge: relieve the interminable boredom of the August Personage of Jade with music such as he's never heard before- or be beheaded.”

“But by the time we got to the third bar of "Little Bitch", the entire Qin court was in chaos. Generals were screaming for guards, who were too spooked to approach us; shamans and astrologers were wailing in terror; courtiers and noble ladies were trying to flee in panic, only to get tangled in their heavy silken robes and fall- quite gracefully, to be sure. The emperor himself looked like he was suffering some sort of epileptic fit."

"I dunno- maybe we should have practiced more, but I thought we weren't THAT bad. Maybe some people just have no taste in music."
