Greek mythology

A quick question for those better versed in mythology than I am: does anyone know of a myth where a race between Iris and another goddess resulted in the sky being painted blue? Are there any similar myths?

Its kind of sad when the quality of a student's work makes one suspicious, but on the other hand, if its all her invention she may have a career as a writer.

quick and dirty research suggests that no, that's not in the canon of established myths. But this is very much quick-and-dirty research.

I am not personally aware of any such myth. Iris was herself a fairly obscure goddess, mostly a messenger; some accounts had her as the mother of Eros.

It is of course possible that some other mythology has such an event happen, but I didn't find it on a cursory search.

It sounds like a mild cross of various myths. There's the one where 3 goddesses race for the golden apple story. Aurora, of "rosy-fingered" fame paints the dawn, of course. Tons of myths attempt to explain the natural world. Sounds like a pretty good riff on a series of established themes.
Not an expert.

My mummified owl pellet of a heart cannot accept that a child is talented! Plop a phrase of her work into Google and see if she cribbed it from a book. CRUSH HER ENTHUSIASM
