These are the sort of things that make commutes interesting...

...in a Chinese sense of the word. I had only been on the leftmost lane of the southbound freeway for a few moments when I saw a spinout from far too close a perspective.

Fortunately I had some distance between myself and the car in front of me, because I saw her drastically swerve to the left, and then completely spin out across the other two lanes of traffic, ending up parked in the middle of the right lane, pointing backwards. The amazing thing is that even though traffic was getting heavy, she didn't hit anyone, though she came incredibly close, and she ended up facing an SUV's bumper a yard away.

I'm not sure WHY this happened- either something went wrong with her stearing, or she saw the car ahead of her, and jammed on her brakes. Either way, I'm surprised there wasn't a major accident.

But I made it to work, alive and undamaged, and there evidently wasn't anybody hurt. Very interestng indeed.

The one time I saw a spin on the Freeway was while I was out for a drivers training lesson with my mom. A teenager or early 20's was driving some sort of sporty car, and twitched a little to one side. overcorrected, Overcorrected, OVERCORRECTED, spun! Ended up wrong-way on left shoulder, after smacking the center divider.

Glad to hear no one was hurt, and let's hear it for proper following distances!

I've seen a total of three people truly mess up on the freeway so far, not counting the VW Bug I saw on fire by the side of the road. Oddly enough, none of the three times has resulted in an accident, just a car going off the road or (this time) blocking traffic.

And I kept a LONG distance between other cars and myself today.
