I watched Braveheart tonight for the first time. As far as historical accuracy and the writing went, well, I kept waiting for Ash and the Deadites to show up, but they didn't, and so eventually I lost interest and wandered away.

I've only seen bits and pieces of Braveheard, but I can definitely say that it looks like it would be significantly improved by the addition of Ash and the Deadites.
