Post -post birthday roundup
Last night was wonderful- We went tot eh Beachside for some excellent shrimp kebobs, I had a Mai Tai and a Singapore Sling...and by the time we got home, I was exhausted from my sinus infection.
So I spent the first day of my new, more proactive lifestyle:
I've made an appointment with the doctor to get referred to a rhinologist- I'm really tired of coming down with feeling weak and feverish every couple of weeks or so. Hopefully he'll give me something to ream out whatever bacteria have colonized my sinuses.
But the main thing, is I've got a new Ipod Nano-given to me by My Lovely Wife- which lives up to its name. The thing is tiny- it looks more like a USB data card than an MP3 player. In fact the packaging was about ten times as large as the player- packages within packages put together like a babushka doll done with a Japanese design aesthetic. I'll post pictures later on.
Our entire on-computer music collection fit into a third of the memory- I can see a great potential to winnow down our CD collection before moving.. And the whole thing is very micro-compact and elegant. I love it, even though I've barely scratched the surface of its capabilities..
I just hope I don't stick it into an ATM card slot by mistake.
So I spent the first day of my new, more proactive lifestyle:
- Watching the repairman replace the garbage disposal ( I managed to retrieve the two marbles that caused the thing to go on the blink)
- Reading a bunch of internet comics.
- Playing with the Ipod Nano that My Lovely Wife gave me for my birthday.

Ooooo
Personally, I think if Apple stuck to hardware and packaging design, the world would be a far better place. The iPod's are a joy to behold, their software is not.
One warning though: Copying music onto an iPod is really easy, copying it off is not. There are programs around that let you copy back, but Apple is trying its hardest to make sure you can't copy music back off for copyright reasons so make sure you have a copy of your music off as well as on your iPod if you start winnowing down your CD collection.
