My favorite slam on a book...

...comes from Gharlane of Eddore on Usenet back in 1992, regarding the book "The Terror from Planet Ionus":

"On behalf of the nation in which I live, I'd like to officially apologize
to the entire world for this book, and express our regret at the loss
of atmospheric oxygen caused by the sacrifice of the trees that were
butchered to print this slop. "

So, does anyone else have a favorite critique that blisters paint?

Mark Twain's thorough bitch-choking of Cooper's Deerstalker Saga remains my favorite.

This isn't a book critique, but Ebert and Roeper once said that the only positive thing they could find to say about a movie was that "it was in color."

Sad thing is? I don't even remember what the movie in question was. It must really have been forgettable.

That is the movie critic equivalent of "Nice hair. And a wonderful personality."

Just thought of another, and for an actual book this time:

I forget who wrote it, and a quick Google search didn't turn it up, but there is a paint-peeling rant about the Jean M. Aul books, particularly the way "Valley of the Horses," which devolved into laughably unrealistic soft-core cave porn.

You might be able to find it via Godawful FanFic, which I'm not going to search now because I'm at work.
