Synopsies, the aftermath

So, I really enjoyed the synopsis game, and I'm thrilled that people had a good time.  Everyone did very well, so there's only two questions left.  i'll toss these out before I put this game to rest for a while.
 

(Movie) "Two children interfere with a military archaeological expedition, and indirectly cause the deaths of nearly everyone on the island."

(Hint: it's by the same person who did one of the other items in the list.)

(Book) A man committed to an institution escapes, takes a long drive, and decides to kill his brother. 

(hint: it's a series of several books, actually)


Ok, so one more bonus synopsis:

(Book and Movie) "A sleep-deprived man finds his dreams fulfilled, while crushing the dreams of his psychiatrist."

Ahhhhh, I should have had this sooner, but kept second-guessing myself (and thinking of Future Boy Conan, for some reason). The movie is Laputa: Castle in the Sky!
