This discussion also eventually ended giving me the term of the day as well:

that can't be good. Can you imagine the size of the water bottle needed to train the mecha-cat to stay off the drapes? Or how much damage it will do when looking for catnip?

AFAICT, 'mecha meganekko-neko miko mahou shoujo' roughtly translates out to "Android glasses-wearing magical catgirl temple guardian". Just to get as many otaku fantasies as possible in at one go.
