I think I will have to get more of the very offbeat anime series "Great Detectives Poirot and Marple".
I will ignore the less than top-quality animation, the presence of a girl sidekick, the duck mascot, and the fact that the mystery in the first episode wasn't subtle enough for the great Poirot. I will ignore all those elements and gleefully see more of this series.
Why? Because it doesn't have any goddamn fan service. It's a sad comment on the state of anime these days that it's worth noting a series where I DON'T have to ignore panty shots or jiggling breasts to concentrate on the story. Plus, the main characters of this series are OLD. They solve mysteries without the help of giant robots or magical powers. And the fashions and set elements actually look reasonably 1930s-ish.
It reminds me that occasionally anime can be about something besides fantasy and/or teenagers. And for that I must get more.
