Cloudy with a chance of indoor showers.
Oct. 18th, 2005 11:45 pmWe're still cleaning up from yesterday.
That is, yesterday we had an unexpected rainstorm in SB- make that a quite unusual October downpour in what's normally the hottest and driest part of the year. Add to that a roof that’s actually cheap corrugated tin and tape, and a recently installed antenna. Right above my boss's office. My boss was on a trip yesterday, when I heard the ominous drip...drip...drip. Peeking inside, I saw that one of the ceiling panels had become saturated and was bulging downward. Kind of like a Mt. St. Helens lava dome, except upside down. So, I put a bucket on the desk, gave our maintenance guy 50/50 odds it would come down before building maintenance would come , and went back to work.
I should have bet money. I jumped at the loud crash right before quitting time- and then had to go clean the pieces of sodden tile off the desk, move Boss lady’s collage of pictures to a new location, wipe off the desk so it wouldn't stain. and then move the desk so I could put a catch basin down.
This is NOT in my job description- and this was only one storm. The rainy season should be...interesting.
