One of the things I seriously hate in modern fantasy are the blurbs that either say "in the style of Lord of the Rings" or "In the Style of Harry Potter". So it's a bit of a breath of fresh air to open "the Family Trade" by Charles Stross, and see "In the style of Roger Zelazney". It's nice to read someone who isn't in the legion of Tolkien imitators, and frankly, the Amber chronicles is a great source of inspiration.

So far, I'm liking the book. the heroine is competent yet human, and the author seems to be drawing an interesting parallel between feudal nobility and gangsters. It'll be interesting to see where this is going.
