(Science) Missed!

So once again, yesterday humanity went about its affairs in oblivious naivety, unaware that doom in the form ofa loose cannon from the heavens was going to...miss us by nearly 38,000 miles.  

Still, in astronomical terms, that was the equivalent of a bullet clipping some hairs from a target.  And it's only a matter of time before one of those loose cannons hits earth, causing major destruction if it hits land, or massive tsunamis if it hits water.  The only question is whether we'll develop enough of an early warning system and associated technology to detect and do something about them in time.

Not that this is really a reason to change one's vote, but Obama has suggested moving money from NASA's budget to the Department of Education.  Just sayin'...

Fruity Drink!

 For lack of anything else, and out of inspiration, I'm going to start posting recipes.  Tonight: how to appease the fierce  racerxmachinawith an improvised drink.  

So the racerexmachina demands a martini, and then abruptly changes her mind and "requests" a fruity drink.  Normally, this is code for a voda-lingonberrry spritzer, but horrors, you have no seltzer water!  What to do?  WHAT DO YOU DO!?

You come up with this version of the highball, which I call, modestly,

The Roseembolism:

You need the following:

Vodka that RxM says is indistinguishable from Skyy, even though it costs half as much
Lingonberry syrup
Diet Coke
a highball glass
ice

Toss the ice into the highball glass
Pour 1.5 jiggers of cheap vodka you want to get rid of as fast as possible  into the glass
Splash lingonberry syrup  to taste into the glass
 fill with diet coke

Serve on a silver platter, or barring that, plop it on the mouse pad, and run.

Go back to the kitchen and make your own.
