The sad state of cult fashion

Courtesy of Metafilter, I read this interesting piece on the fashions of cults, primarily modern ones. And I have to say I'm actually pretty disappointed by the fashion selections that modern cultists are choosing.. When I think "cult", I want to see something traditional in the robe and hood department, like say, this, this or this. Or even something sexy like this or this. This isn't rocket science we're talking about: grab a hood and a robe, and you're good too go, unless you're the sexy cultist priestess, in which case you want something slit up the sides, and maybe with cleavage down to your belly button.

But not something that looks like a hippy version of Donny and Marie Osmond. How is your average two-fisted pulp hero or courageous police detective supposed too know the cultists if they dress like a bunch of RenFair rejects? Really, cultists these days need fashion consultants. It's just sad, really.
