Well Crap. Am I being rooked?
Jan. 8th, 2008 06:04 pmI'm as frustrated as hell.
After two weeks at the shop, two weeks where the repairmen ouldn't seem to figure out what was wrong, I'm told that though it was "difficult", they located the problem in the video card, not the processor they replaced. They said they wouldn't charge me for labor, and would replace the video card with a 64mb card for $89.00, or the recommended 128MB one for $156.00.
I'm annoyed, and really wondering if I'm being taken to the cleanders here, especially since the prices for video cards seem all over the place. Does $156.00 for a 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X300 card sound OK? Could I substitute another? I have a copy of the owner's manual, so I could probably replace the graphics card myself. SHould I get a second opinion?
Either way, I'm frustrated and angry. I need the laptop back, but I also don't have money to toss down the drain at it. Damn it!
